Picking a Chinese Restaurant in Pittsburgh



When you think of Pittsburgh, you don’t really think of Chinese food. Many people forget that Pittsburgh is not just a steel city. It is in fact on the best best places to finder a diverse mix of culinary cultures. This can be seen by the slew of restaurants located around the area.

Forget all you know, because Pittsburgh in fact does contain a small Chinatown district. The Chinese were among many of the settlers in the late 1800′s to travel to this booming town. Prepare to be amazed with the authentic Chinese dishes that you will soon discover. It is amazing to see the glory of the old Chinese style of architecture sitting beneath the towering steel structures and bridges. Pittsburgh’s Chinatown is not as vast as one you would find in San Francisco, but seeing something like this is refreshing.

Former ER star and voice of Mulan, Ming Na’s parents actually still run their Chinese restaurant near the corner of the Boulevard of the Allies. Walking in the place you will see a shrine of Ming Na and all of her Hollywood goodness.

Regardless of the Chinese restaurant location, when ordering General Tso’s chicken, be sure to ask for white meat. You’ll be amazed (unless you like dark meat) at the difference in taste and quality of your dish. You may be charged an extra dollar, but it certainly is worth it from a taste standpoint.
